Puttur, July 10, 2025: Veda Brahma Shri Manjulagiri Venkataramana Bhatta emphasized the mutual learning aspect of education while addressing students at the adult Vedic learning camp's Guru Vandana event. "No one knows everything. Each person excels in a specific field. We learn from you as much as you learn from us. Thus, learning and teaching are inseparable parts of life," said Venkataramana Bhatta.
The camp is a collaborative initiative between Veda Samvardhana Pratishtana and Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple. Head priest, Shri Jayarama Jois, and priest Shri Udayakrishna Bhatta tirelessly conduct mantra recitation classes for the senior participants, receiving praise from Venkataramana Bhatta for their selfless dedication. "Their efforts are truly commendable," he said.
Who is a Guru, and What is the Benefit of Guru Vandana?"The guru-shishya (teacher-student) relationship is unique," Venkataramana Bhatta explained. "You, who have come to learn the Vedas, come from diverse fields. We learn from each other. Many of you have taken up Vedic studies post-retirement, which is heartening. The Guru Vandana performed on Guru Purnima reflects the love and bond between guru and shishya. The word 'Guru' signifies 'Gu' as ignorance and 'Ru' as its removal. A guru dispels ignorance. Through Guru Vandana, one gains four benefits: longevity, academic progress, fame, and mental strength."
During the event, students of the Veda Samvardhana Pratishtana’s adult Vedic learning camp honored their gurus. Senior students, including Shri B.L. Pamp, Shri Krishnamurthy Hebbarbailu, and Shri Satyanarayana Bhatta Sarpangala, offered fruits to Vedamurthy Bada Shri Jayarama Jois, Shri Manjulagiri Venkataramana Bhatta, and Shri Udayakrishna Bhatta on behalf of all students. The learners sought their blessings in a heartfelt Guru Vandana ceremony.
On this occasion, Shri P. Uday Kumar, a retired Karnataka Bank officer, shared his transformative experiences from a Himalayan journey and Kailasa pilgrimage, captivating the audience with insights from his spiritual sojourn.
