Puttur, July 26, 2025: The town of Puttur was ablaze with patriotic fervor as it marked the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijayotsava at the Amar Jawan Jyoti Memorial, situated adjacent to Kille Maidan. This commemorative event was a collaborative endeavor hosted by the Nattoja Foundation Trust, Ambika Group of Educational Institutions, the Amar Jawan Jyoti Conservation Committee, and the Puttur Ex-Servicemen’s Association. The solemn gathering was dedicated to honoring the valorous soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty during the pivotal Kargil War.
Sridevi’s Call to Shun Unpatriotic Bollywood Films
Acclaimed youth orator Sridevi took to the stage as the esteemed chief guest and delivered an impassioned address, encouraging students to avoid Bollywood productions that fail to demonstrate sufficient patriotism. In her speech, she targeted certain Bollywood figures who she accused of maintaining silence in the face of Pakistani aggression against India, only to advocate peace when the situation escalates and India responds. "It is imperative for the youth to develop a discerning attitude and reject these films, while simultaneously confronting those whose allegiance to our country is questionable," Sridevi asserted.
The speaker placed a strong emphasis on the valor of the Kargil War heroes, reminding the audience, "Their unyielding courage safeguarded our sovereignty, and it is our collective duty to ensure their sacrifices are not forgotten." She went on to praise the soldiers for their selfless enlistment in the armed forces, driven purely by an unshakeable commitment to serving the nation. A poignant tribute event took place at the Amar Jawan Jyoti Memorial, where wreaths were laid and floral tributes made. Balarama Acharya, the Administrative Director of G.L. Group of Institutions, provided insight into the advancement of contemporary warfare, pointing out the success of technology-based operations such as Operation Sindhur that have managed to achieve their objectives without casualties.
M.K. Narayana Bhat, President of the Puttur Ex-Servicemen’s Association, lauded the unwavering spirit of soldiers, referring to them as the embodiment of sacrifice and the memorial as a symbol of patriotism.
The event was marked by prayers offered by students from Ambika Pre-University College, with Principal Rakesh Kumar Kammaje extending a warm welcome to all attendees. Principal Satyajit Upadhyaya of the same institution expressed gratitude on behalf of the organizers. The program was compered by teacher Priyashree K.S. and drew participation from various sectors including the public, parents, members of the Ambika Group’s administrative board, educators, students, and the Scout and Guides team from Sudana Educational Institution, reflecting a strong sense of unity and respect for the nation's armed forces.
