A Sanctuary for the Marginalized
Sai Niketana Sevashram, established under the auspices of the Shri Sai Seva Pratisthanam Charitable Trust in Daigoli, is the visionary creation of Dr. Uday Kumar Nooji and Dr. Sharada. This noble venture acts as a sanctuary for the socially disregarded, individuals grappling with mental health issues, and orphans alike. At present, the facility is a home to approximately 120 residents, offering them not only comfortable living conditions but also top-notch healthcare services. Its unwavering dedication to the betterment of the underprivileged has garnered significant accolades from all quarters.
Generous Contributions for a Noble Cause
Recognizing the Sevashrama’s noble work and its needs, Sakshama Dakshina Kannada District Unit, in collaboration with Nitte University, Deralakatte, extended a helping hand. Sakshama donated three water beds, while Nitte University’s hostel contributed over 100 mattresses to the Sevashrama. The donations were graciously accepted by Psychologist Kumari Ramya on behalf of the Sevashrama.
The effort to deliver the mattresses was supported by Nitte University’s NSS officers, hostel wardens, students, and driver Raviyanna, who played a key role in the initiative. Dr. Varsha and social worker Akshit Shetty also joined hands in this noble endeavor.
A Call for Community Support
The Sakshama team expressed profound emotion upon witnessing the socially significant work carried out by the Sevashrama. They strongly advocated for the local community to lend their backing to these types of establishments, underscoring the crucial role of combined efforts in elevating the status of those on the periphery of society. This gathering embodied the essence of empathy and collective action, aligning beautifully with the celebratory themes of Varamahalakshmi and Raksha Bandhan.
