Bantwal, June 21, 2025: The vibrant town of Bantwal came alive as the three-day Tuluverena Tulunada Santhe, organized by Tulukoota Bantwala, was inaugurated with pomp and splendor on Friday (June 20,2025) at the Bantwal Buntara Bhavana. The event, a celebration of Tulu culture, heritage, and community spirit, drew a large crowd, including dignitaries, cultural enthusiasts, and locals Reports Bantwal News.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Tulukoota Bantwala President Harish Shetty, with chief guest MLA Rajesh Naik Ulipadiguttu lighting the ceremonial lamp. Other prominent figures present included MP Brijesh Chowta, former Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, and Buntara Sangha President Vivek Shetty. The event showcased the rich traditions of Tulunadu, with performances, exhibitions, and stalls highlighting local art, cuisine, and handicrafts.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Rajesh Naik emphasized the importance of preserving Tulu culture, stating, “Tulunada Santhe is not just a fair but a platform to unite our community and pass our heritage to future generations.” The event featured traditional Tulu folk performances like Yakshagana, Bhuta Kola, and Pili Vesha, captivating the audience.
The Santhe, running from June 20 to 22, offers a variety of attractions, including Tulu food stalls serving authentic dishes like kori roti and bangude pulimunchi, handicraft displays, and cultural competitions. A special highlight is the Tulu drama and poetry sessions, aimed at promoting the language among the youth. Organizers have also arranged free shuttle services from BC Road to facilitate visitor access.
Local resident Shalini Rai, a visitor, shared her excitement: “This is a fantastic initiative to celebrate our Tulu identity. The food, music, and vibe here are truly nostalgic.” The event is expected to attract thousands over the weekend, boosting local businesses and fostering community pride.
The concluding day on June 22 will feature a grand felicitation ceremony for Tulu scholars and artists, followed by a star-studded cultural evening with performances by renowned Tulu film actors and singers.
