Gokarna, August 1: One of the unique spiritual traditions at the ongoing Annabrahma Chaturmasya at Sri Ramachandrapura Math is the Dhanyalakshmi Sannidhi, where devotees offer food grains as a symbol of gratitude to the divine.
The seva begins with a prayer to Goddess Dhanyalakshmi, who represents prosperity, nourishment and abundance. After offering prayers, devotees place food grains into a vessel kept before the sanctum.
No Fixed Quantity
There is no rule on how much grain should be offered. The offering depends entirely on the devotee's faith and capacity.
According to Srikanth Hegde Antravalli, a Karyakartha of the Math, devotees may offer a single handful, a bowl, a bag or even an entire sack of grain. While many devotees make a symbolic handful offering, others contribute much larger quantities. "In fact, some devotees have offered as much as 100 kilograms of grain," he said.

'Yathashakti, Yathabhakti'
The Math follows the principle of "Yathashakti, Yathabhakti"- meaning every offering should be made according to one's ability and devotion.
After the symbolic grain offering, devotees make a voluntary monetary contribution. This contribution completes the offering as their personal seva. There is no fixed donation amount.

Supporting Annabrahma Seva
The grains collected through Dhanyalakshmi Sannidhi are used for the Annabrahma Chaturmasya, where thousands of devotees receive prasada and meals every day.
The tradition highlights the importance of respecting food as a divine blessing. It also reminds devotees that every grain carries the grace of Goddess Dhanyalakshmi and should never be wasted.
The Math says the seva is open to everyone, making it a simple yet meaningful way for devotees to participate in the sacred tradition of Anna Dana, one of India's highest forms of charity.
