CET Counselling Faces Further Delay in Karnataka

Bengaluru, June 22, 2025: Over a month after the announcement of the Common Entrance Test (CET-2025) results, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is yet to finalise the list of available seats for various professional courses. This has pushed the counselling process for admissions to medical, dental, AYUSH, engineering, and other courses by another week, leaving thousands of aspirants in limbo.

According to a report by Prajavani, Around 3.11 lakh students appeared for CET-2025, conducted for admissions to professional courses for the 2025-26 academic year. The KEA declared the results on May 24, 2025, while the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-2025 results, crucial for medical, dental, and AYUSH admissions, were announced on June 14. Based on NEET scores, KEA allocates seats for these courses in Karnataka. The counselling for engineering and other professional courses typically begins after the first round of medical seat allocation.

However, the delay in finalising the seat matrix has disrupted the schedule, causing anxiety among students and parents. “The uncertainty is stressful. We expected counselling to start by now, but there’s no clarity on the seat allocation,” said a parent of a CET aspirant.

KEA officials attributed the delay to the complexity of coordinating seat matrices across multiple courses and ensuring compliance with reservation policies. “We are working to finalise the seat list and expect to announce the counselling schedule within a week,” a KEA official said

The delay could impact the academic calendar, especially for engineering colleges, which rely on timely admissions to commence classes. Students are advised to regularly check the official KEA website, cetonline.karnataka.gov.in, for updates.
