Puttur, June 26, 2025: Sri Lakshmi Venkatrama Temple, in collaboration with the Kuriya Vithal Shastri Cultural Institution, Ujire, will host a grand ‘Yakshagana Talamaddale Saptaha’ from June 30 to July 6, 2025, at Sri Sukriteendra Kala Mandir, Puttur. The week-long event, featuring renowned artists performing various mythological narratives, will take place daily from 4 PM to 8 PM, with free entry for all art enthusiasts. Saptah begins June 30 at 4 pm June 30 with an inaugural ceremony at 4 PM, graced by Yakshagana Dashavatari K. Govind Bhat. Balrama Acharya, Managing Director of G.L. Acharya Jewellers, Puttur, will preside over the event. Dr. K. Ashok Namdev Prabhu, President of the Sri Lakshmi Venkatrama Temple Administrative Committee, and Y. Poovappa, Secretary of Sri Raghavendra Mutt, Puttur, will attend as chief guests.
The closing ceremony on July 6 at 4 PM will be held in the divine presence of Edaneeru Mathadheesha Paramapoojya Sri Sri Satchidananda Bharati Swamiji of Jagadguru Sri Shankaracharya Samsthana. The event will honor the Idagunji Mahaganapati Yakshagana Mandali (Reg.), Keremane-Gunavante, and veteran female role artist Kokkada Ishwar Bhat with the prestigious ‘Kuriya Prashasti’ award. Additionally, Bengaluru-based industrialist and art patron R.K. Bhat will receive the ‘Kuriya Smriti Gaurava’ award.
Dr. T. Shyama Bhat, Chairperson of the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission, will preside over the closing ceremony, with Gopalakrishna Bhat, Managing Director of Dwaraka Corporation Pvt. Ltd., Puttur, as the chief guest. Senior artist Venkatarama Bhat from Sullia will deliver a memorial tribute to the late humorist Peruvadi Narayana Bhat.
The Saptaha will feature a series of Talamaddale performances, including “Taranisena Kalaga,” “Shalya Sarathya,” “Dakshadhwara,” “Damayanti Punah Swayamvara,” “Krishnarjuna Kalaga,” “Vali Vadhe,” and “Gurudakshine” from June 30 to July 6. Ujire Ashok Bhat, Director of Kuriya Vithal Shastri Cultural Institution invites all art lovers to attend this cultural extravaganza.
