Kadaba Gears Up for August 17 Panchayat Polls, Parties Scramble for Tickets

Voters in Kadaba Town Panchayat preparing for the August 17, 2025, election as political parties finalize candidates.

Uppinangady, July 17, 2025: The political sphere in the Uppinangady area is ablaze with excitement following the announcement of the Kadaba Town Panchayat election, set to take place on August 17, 2025. This long-awaited event marks the end of a five-year lull in significant political activity. The election, which encompasses 13 wards within the recently established Kadaba Town Panchayat that includes Kadaba and Kodimbala villages, has prompted a surge in political engagement among various parties. Candidates and leaders are now in a race to obtain tickets and solidify their positions ahead of the crucial polls.

The election timetable announcement, setting the stage for the democratic process to unfold. Prospective candidates must submit their nomination papers no later than August 5, with scrutiny of these papers scheduled for August 6. Should any contestants choose to withdraw, they must do so by August 8. The actual voting is planned for August 17, and re-polling, if deemed necessary, will be conducted on August 19. The much-anticipated counting of votes will occur on August 20, potentially deciding the fate of the town’s governance.

From July 29 to August 20, the Model Code of Conduct will be strictly enforced, aiming to guarantee a transparent and equitable election process throughout the panchayat’s domain. This period is critical as it sets the tone for fair and ethical campaigning, ensuring that all parties involved adhere to the rules and regulations laid out by the Election Commission of India. The upcoming election is expected to bring forth new leaders and revitalize local governance, reflecting the aspirations of the constituents of Kadaba Town Panchayat.

Political Parties Gear Up for the Polls

The absence of taluk and zilla panchayat elections in Kadaba had made political activity there less intense. But now, with elections being announced, it is getting more exciting. People from Congress, BJP, and other parties are getting more interested in politics again. Both Congress and BJP have many people who want to get a ticket to run in the elections. This is because of the decision to reserve some wards, which makes it more difficult for them to choose the right candidates. Some people who wanted to run are now sad because their ward has been reserved for someone else. The parties are trying to find new wards for these sad people so they can still have a chance to win. Congress has even more people who want to run than before, while BJP is looking at younger candidates, even though some older ones also want to be chosen.

Ward Reservations and Electoral Dynamics

The Urban Development Department decided how many seats each group gets in 13 wards. They gave one seat to women from the Backward Class, one to Scheduled Caste women, two to Backward Class-A, one to Backward Class-B, one to Scheduled Caste, one to Scheduled Tribe, and the rest are for everyone else. Some of the wards and their seat types are: Kalaar for Backward Class-A women, Kodibailu for Scheduled Caste women, Panya and Bedraje for everyone, Maleshwara for Backward Class-A, Kadaba for General Women, Panemajalu for Backward Class-B, Pijakala for General, Muraje for Backward Class-A, Doddakoppa for General Women, Kodimbala for General Women, Majjaru for Scheduled Caste, and Pulikukku for Scheduled Tribe.

This is making political parties think hard about who to pick because they want to win and also be fair to all groups. The election on August 17 will be really important for the area of Kadaba. Both big parties are trying hard to win and be in charge of the new local council. Right now, Kadaba is full of political events as everyone gets ready for this big election.
