SCDCC Bank Empowers Puttur- Kumbra Residents with PMSBY, PMJJBY Awareness

SCDCC Bank’s Kumbra branch in Puttur hosts a Jan Suraksha camp to promote PMSBY and PMJJBY, empowering residents with affordable insurance solutions.

Puttur, July 2, 2025: The Dakshina Kannada District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank’s Kumbra branch held an awareness camp at Navodaya Farmers’ Hall in Kumbra, Puttur taluk, focusing on Jan Suraksha schemes. The event highlighted the importance of insurance in protecting people from unexpected challenges in life.

Urging Insurance for All

Olumogru Gram Panchayat President Triveni Pallattaru emphasized the role of insurance as a crucial safety net for families during emergencies. Speaking at the event, she urged residents to enroll in government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), calling them essential for financial security.

Geetha, a financial literacy consultant from Amulya Financial Literacy Centre, explained the procedural steps for obtaining insurance. She advised that policies should be purchased through the account-holder’s own bank to ensure smooth processing and proper KYC compliance. Geetha also warned about the risks of incorrect nominee details, which could complicate claims, and clarified that accident insurance does not cover heart attacks—separate health insurance would be required for such cases.

Prakashchandra Rai Kaikara, president of the Kumbra Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society, also addressed the gathering. Kishore Kumar, a staff member of SCDCC Bank’s Kumbra branch, outlined the bank’s customer-centric facilities. The event saw participation from Bhavani B.R., Chief Executive Officer of the Kumbra Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society.
Vishwanath S., Manager of SCDCC Bank’s Kumbra branch, welcomed the attendees, while Narayana Kukkupuni, Chief Insurance Advisor of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, compered the program.
