The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has officially launched the beta version of its redesigned ticket booking website, offering passengers a faster, cleaner, and more user-friendly online booking experience.
The beta portal became available and can be accessed through the official IRCTC website. Users can explore the new interface and share their feedback before the full version is rolled out in the coming weeks.
The redesigned website is the result of suggestions made by students of Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) during an interaction with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Their recommendations focused on improving the website's usability and simplifying the ticket booking process.
What's New in the IRCTC Beta Website?
The new portal introduces several user-friendly improvements aimed at making railway ticket booking quicker and more convenient.
1. No Unnecessary Captchas
Passengers will experience a cleaner interface with the removal of unnecessary captchas, pop-ups, flashing graphics, and other distracting elements that often slowed down the booking process.
2. Seat Availability Across All Classes
Users can now view seat availability for all travel classes on a single screen, making it easier to compare options without navigating multiple pages.
3. Faster Checkout Process
IRCTC has reduced the number of booking steps, allowing passengers to complete ticket reservations more quickly, especially during peak Tatkal booking hours.
4. Saved Passenger Details
The new website allows users to save passenger information, making repeat bookings faster and more convenient.
Website Designed with User Feedback
IRCTC said students from MNIT actively participated in the design process by providing suggestions to improve the overall look and feel of the portal. The current beta version has been released to gather additional public feedback before the final rollout.
Passengers are encouraged to test the new website and submit their suggestions, which will help shape future updates.
Integration with New Passenger Reservation Engine
Alongside the website redesign, IRCTC is also modernising its decades-old Passenger Reservation Engine, the backend system that powers railway ticket bookings across multiple platforms.
According to IRCTC, the upgraded reservation engine has been developed while ensuring uninterrupted booking services. Once completed, the new website will be fully integrated with the revamped reservation system, delivering improved performance, faster response times, and enhanced reliability.
The fully functional version of the new IRCTC portal is expected to be launched within the next few weeks.
