Puttur: After making a strong impression with his debut Kannada film Lanke, director Ramaprasad Dasappa is set to return with his second directorial venture, Detox, a psychological thriller that will be released as a pan-India project in five languages, including Kannada. The film's official title was unveiled during a recent press meet attended by the cast and crew.
A Psychological Thriller with a Social Message
Addressing the media, director Ramaprasad Dasappa described Detox as a psychological thriller that explores the emotional conflicts, social pressures, and realities experienced by women across different stages of life.
"The story reflects the varied mindsets of women aged between 7 and 70. Through this film, we aim to 'detoxify' the negative attitudes and perceptions that have become deeply rooted in society," he said.
He added that the story's universal appeal inspired the team to produce the film in five languages, bringing together artists and technicians from multiple film industries.
Kishore to Play a Never-Seen-Before Character
Veteran actor Kishore Kumar revealed that he was initially hesitant to accept the role because it involved portraying a police officer.
"When Ramaprasad first narrated the story, I wasn't very keen because I have already played several police roles. But after understanding the unique nature of this character, I immediately agreed. This role has a completely different shade, and I believe audiences will enjoy this script-driven thriller," Kishore said.
Suchendra Prasad Praises the Film's Vision
Senior actor Suchendra Prasad appreciated the director's approach, saying many films today merely entertain or distract audiences, whereas Detox seeks to create meaningful social awareness.
He remarked that the film attempts to "detoxify society" by encouraging viewers to reflect on prevailing mindsets.
New Identity for Actor Adbhuth
Actor Adbhuth, previously known by the screen name Varun, announced that Detox marks a fresh phase in his acting career under his new identity.
Lead actors Kirisha Tarika Devi, Tumul Balyan, and Vanishree also spoke about their respective characters and expressed confidence in the project's unique storyline.
Six Film Directors Join the Cast
One of the film's biggest highlights is the presence of six filmmakers appearing as actors. The cast includes directors Nagendra Urs, Guruprasad, Jagadish Koppa, and Manju Daivagna, among others, in significant roles.
Actor Venkat Raju, music director Elwin Joshua, and members of the technical team also attended the title launch and shared their excitement about the ambitious pan-India project.
With its psychological narrative, social relevance, and multilingual release strategy, Detox aims to offer audiences a thought-provoking cinematic experience while reaching viewers across India.
