Bengaluru, July 31: Intermittent rain accompanied by gusty winds is likely to continue across Karnataka's coastal districts, including Kasaragod, until August 1, according to the latest weather forecast valid up to 8 am on August 1, 2026. Weather experts said rainfall may begin to reduce gradually from August 2 as the southwest monsoon weakens.

Coastal Karnataka

Intermittent rain and windy conditions are expected across Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Kasaragod. Similar weather is likely to continue until August 1, with rainfall expected to reduce slightly from August 2.

Malnad Region

Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts are likely to receive intermittent showers. Areas close to the coastal belt may witness moderate to heavy rainfall. Rain activity is expected to decrease gradually after August 2.

North Interior Karnataka

Scattered rainfall is forecast in Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Koppal, Ballari, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Bidar and Yadgir districts. Rainfall is expected to reduce from August 1 onwards.

South Interior Karnataka

Light to moderate rain is likely in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Davanagere and Vijayanagara districts. Meanwhile, isolated light showers are expected in Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru and Chitradurga districts.

Monsoon Outlook

The low-pressure system has now moved over Gujarat, where it is causing heavy rainfall and flooding in parts of the state. As the system weakens, the southwest monsoon over Karnataka is also expected to lose strength.

However, weather models indicate that another low-pressure system may develop over the eastern coast of Sri Lanka around August 4. Meteorologists said its impact on Karnataka will become clearer in the coming days.
