Kundapura, 16 August 2026: A unique sand sculpture titled Nagabana, inspired by the coastal tradition of Naga worship and carrying a message to protect nature, has drawn attention at the Old Alave beach in Koteswara.

The artwork was created by students of Trivarna Art Classes, Kundapura, using the concept of the Naga deity as a symbol of the fear, devotion and reverence associated with nature worship along the Karnataka coast. The sculpture also conveys the message Save Nature, linking the region’s traditional beliefs with the need for environmental conservation.

Art students Adwith Shankar, Sathvik K.R., Pranathi Prashanth Bhat, Samanvi, Adwith Kumar R., Suneri Hegde and Vidya Rani worked on the sand sculpture under the guidance and training of artist Harish Saga, mentor at Trivarna Art Classes.

The artwork has been created across an area of approximately 12 feet in width on the beach.

The students have used sand to present the idea of a Nagabana — a traditional sacred space associated with Naga worship in coastal Karnataka — while also drawing attention to the importance of protecting nature.

The sand sculpture has become an attraction for visitors to the Koteswara coastline, offering a visual connection between coastal culture, traditional beliefs and environmental awareness.

A recent social media post from Trivarna Art Classes also identifies the group as creating sand art at the Kodi Beach area of Koteswara under artist Harish Saga's guidance.
