Mangaluru–Bengaluru Railway Line Reopens After Yedakumari Landslip Clearance
Train services resume after restoration work between Yedakumari and Shiribagilu; speed restriction remains in force
Mangaluru, August 4, 2026 : Train services on the Mangaluru–Bengaluru railway line have resumed after railway authorities completed restoration work at the landslip-hit section between Yedakumari and Shiribagilu.
The railway track, which was blocked after a major landslip, has now been cleared of mud and debris. Following the completion of repair works, railway engineers certified the track as fit for train operations on Monday night, allowing services to restart.
As a precautionary safety measure, trains passing through the affected stretch will operate under a temporary speed restriction of 10 kmph until normal conditions are fully restored.
Railway officials said train services will gradually return to their regular timetable. However, passengers may continue to experience delays for some time as operations are normalised.
Before reopening the section, a trial engine was run on the restored track to verify safety and ensure the line was ready for passenger and freight movement.
Mudit Mittal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Mysuru Division, along with a team of senior railway officials, visited the restoration site, reviewed the repair work and issued necessary directions before approving the resumption of services.
The reopening of the route is expected to bring relief to thousands of passengers and restore normal connectivity on one of Karnataka's key railway corridors linking the coast with Bengaluru.
