Raichur, 25 August 2026: 355th annual Aradhana Mahotsava of Sri Raghavendra Swamy will be observed as a week-long Saptaratrotsava at Mantralaya from August 27 to September 2, said Sri Subudhendra Theertha Swamiji, Peethadhipathi of Mantralayam Sri Raghavendra Swamy Math.
Speaking at a press conference at the Math on Monday, the pontiff said several special religious programmes would be organised as part of the celebrations, including Dhwajarohana, Dhanya Puja, Lakshmi Puja and Ashta Puja.
A Teppotsava will be held at the newly constructed Parimala Pushkarini. The Poorvaradhana and Madhyaradhana programmes of Sri Raghavendra Swamy will also be conducted.
A special Panchamrita Abhisheka will be performed to the Moola Brindavana, followed by Rangina Vasanthotsava. Flowers will also be showered from a helicopter during the Rathotsava, he said.
Aradhana Mahotsava of Sri Sujnanendra Theertha Sripadangal of Nanjangud in Mysuru district will also be observed as part of the celebrations.
Raghavendra Anugraha Awards
This year, the Math's prestigious Raghavendra Anugraha Award will be presented to Dr. N. Vadiraj Acharya, who served the institution as a student, teacher and principal before retiring.
Dr. Acharya is known for his expertise in Alankara and Vedanta Shastras and for authoring and translating several books, the Swamiji said. Award will also be presented to Dr. Subramaniam, a noted educationist from Tamil Nadu and Vice-Chancellor of a Shastra university, in recognition of his social and educational contributions.
Offerings from religious centres
As in previous years, administrators of the Tirumala temple will offer vastra prasada and Shesha Vastra to Sri Raghavendra Swamy. Vastra offerings will also be received from the Sri Ranganatha temple at Srirangam in Tamil Nadu, as well as from religious centres in neighbouring States and different parts of Karnataka.
Committee to study medical college and university plans
Sri Subudhendra Theertha Swamiji said the Math has constituted an expert committee comprising specialists from Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh to recommend where the proposed medical college and university should be established. Further steps will be taken after the committee submits its report, he said.
₹100 crore residential complex under construction
Math is constructing a 12-storey residential complex with 500 rooms at an estimated cost of ₹100 crore, using Math funds, the Swamiji said.
To prevent untreated sewage from entering the river, a sewage treatment facility costing ₹15 crore has been constructed by Mumbai-based TCS, he added. Several other development works are also being undertaken by the Math, he said.
