Puttur, 21 August 2026: With 33 mosques located within Puttur city limits, Eid Milad celebrations should be conducted without affecting law and order, Puttur City Police Inspector Johnson D'Souza said.
Speaking at a peace meeting held at the City Police Station ahead of Eid Milad, D'Souza said organisers should provide the police with complete information about processions so that necessary security arrangements could be made.
He urged organisers to conduct programmes through designated representatives and ensure that volunteers are deployed during processions to prevent any untoward incidents. “There will be no permission for a bike rally as part of the procession,” the Inspector said.
He also advised organisers to avoid unnecessarily waiting for crowds to gather and instead give children an opportunity to participate so that programmes can be completed quickly. All Eid Milad programmes should be concluded before 10 p.m., he said.
Procession planned from Darbe to Kille Maidan
Community representatives informed the police that a foot procession will be held from Darbe to Kille Maidan on August 25 evening. They said the procession would not cause major problems for one-way traffic, but traffic congestion could occur near Gandhikatta when the procession reaches the area.
They also informed the meeting that a display involving around 50 to 60 decorated vehicles would be held from Kabaka to Majalpadpu, followed by a programme at Kabaka. Sub-Inspectors Sesamma and Suhas were present at the meeting.
