Vitla, 21 August 2026: Police checkpoints are being installed as a safety measure, and strict action will be taken against traffic and other violations, Vitla Police Inspector Prakash Devadiga said.
Speaking at a peace meeting organised at the Vitla Police Station on Thursday ahead of Eid Milad, Devadiga said riding a two-wheeler with three persons should be prevented and warned that violations involving helmets, seat belts and other traffic rules are being monitored through CCTV cameras.
“Notices will be sent to the homes of those found violating the law through CCTV surveillance,” he said. He also said there is no provision under the law for organising programmes after 10 p.m. and urged organisers to comply with the prescribed timings.
Permission is mandatory for processions, foot marches and vehicle rallies, the Inspector said. He advised people who are leaving their homes locked for a period of time to provide the necessary information to the police station as a precautionary measure.
Devadiga said buildings where 100 or more people gather are required to have CCTV cameras as per the rules. Notices are being issued to building owners in this regard, he added.
Regarding deteriorating roads, Devadiga said the police have sought information from the Public Works Department about trucks that may be contributing to road damage. Sub-Inspectors Rathan Kumar and B.S. Nayak were present at the meeting.
