Bengaluru, September 20, 2026: Karnataka is planning to scale up the 2027 Quantum India Bengaluru Summit into a global platform for quantum research, innovation, investment and industry collaboration.
Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science & Technology Dr. Ajay Dharma Singh announced the plan in Bengaluru on Saturday. Speaking at the 10th anniversary celebration of QNu Labs and the launch of QShield 2.0, the Minister said the 2027 summit would seek greater participation from global researchers, technology companies, startups, investors and policymakers.
“The 2027 summit should go beyond being just a conference. It should emerge as a global quantum platform that brings together research, industry, startups, investment and international collaboration,” he said.
QNu Labs invited to Quantum City
Minister also invited QNu Labs to participate in Karnataka’s proposed Quantum City. Proposed initiative is planned as an integrated ecosystem for quantum research, hardware, startups, talent, industry and commercialisation.
“QNu Labs has demonstrated the ability to take indigenous quantum technology from research to real-world applications. Companies like these should become key partners in building Karnataka’s Quantum City,” Dr. Ajay Dharma Singh said.
$20-billion quantum economy target
Karnataka has set a target of building a $20-billion quantum economy by 2035. The state is also expanding its quantum ecosystem through the ₹1,000-crore Karnataka Quantum Mission. The mission focuses on infrastructure, talent development, startups, research and global partnerships.
Minister said Karnataka wants its quantum initiatives to produce measurable outcomes such as patents, products, new companies, skilled talent, investment and access to global markets.
“Karnataka should emerge as a place where quantum ideas are born, technologies are built and companies scale globally,” he said.
Support for DeepTech companies
Congratulating QNu Labs on completing 10 years, the Minister said the Karnataka Government would continue to support home-grown DeepTech companies with the potential to take Indian technologies to global markets.
QNu Labs Co-founder and CEO Sunil Gupta and Dr. Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman of the Mission Governing Board, National Quantum Mission, were present at the event.
