Puttur, 13 September 2026: Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha (Regd.), Nehru Nagar, Puttur, will organise its 45th annual Ganeshotsava from September 14 to 16, bringing together various educational institutions functioning under the Sangha for three days of religious and cultural celebrations.
On September 14, the Ganesha idol will be brought in a procession from Shivapete and installed at the Keshava Sankalpa Sabh Bhavan on the Vivekananda campus. Senior retired employee of the Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Narayana K., will inaugurate the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Various cultural programmes will be presented by the institutions affiliated with the Sangha throughout the three-day celebration. Bhajans and Rangapuja by villagers will also be held. Religious programmes, including Ganahoma, Mahapuja and Prasada distribution, will be conducted under the leadership of faculty members of Vivekananda College.
On September 15, the programme will include Ganapathi Havan, cultural events, and the distribution of prizes to winners of sports competitions organised for college students as part of the annual Ganeshotsava. A public meeting will follow, with Lathesh Bakrಬೈಲು, secretary of the Dakshina Kannada unit of the Akhila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad, participating as the guest. Krishna Kumar Shetty, president of the Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha, will preside over the meeting. Sangha secretary K. M. Vijayanarayana will be present.
On the final day, September 16, cultural programmes will be followed by the Maha Puja at noon. The Ganesha idol immersion procession will commence at 2 p.m. and proceed to Haradi, where the idol will be immersed in the well.
A special feature of this year's 45th Ganeshotsava will be Swayam Aarati, newly introduced by the Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha. Other services and rituals include Rangapuja, Sarvaseva, Mahapuja, Ganapathi Havan, Harake Seva, Panchakajjaya, Vidyarakshe and Karpooraarati Seva, according to a press release.
