Devicharan Rai M Appointed As New Principal of Vivekananda PU College Puttur

Puttur, June 12, 2025: Vivekananda Undergraduate College in Puttur has a new leader at its helm. Devicharan Rai M, a distinguished educator and local resident, has been appointed as the new Principal by the Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha (VVS). With over two decades of teaching experience and a deep commitment to education and community service, Rai is set to steer the college toward new heights.

A Journey Rooted in Education Devicharan Rai M brings 21 years of teaching expertise to his new role. His career began as a lecturer at Ramakrishna Graduate College in Mangalore, followed by stints at Mahesh Undergraduate College and Pana Undergraduate and Graduate College. Since 2019, he has served as the Head of the Department of Computer Science at Vivekananda Undergraduate College, earning a promotion to Associate Professor in June 2023. His academic leadership and dedication have now culminated in his appointment as Principal, effective June 2025.

A proud son of Puttur, Rai is the son of Vasudeva Rai and Gangarat V Rai. His deep ties to the community and passion for education align with the college’s mission to provide value-based education, a vision championed by VVS since its founding in 1915.

A Leader in Education and Social Service Beyond the classroom, Rai has made significant contributions to Puttur’s social fabric. He has held prominent roles in youth and community organizations, including Secretary of Rotary Youth in Puttur, President of the Puttur Rotaract Club, and a leadership position in Rotaract District 3181. His active involvement reflects his commitment to fostering leadership and service among young people, qualities he now brings to his principalship.

A Warm Welcome at the Appointment Ceremony The announcement of Rai’s appointment was celebrated with an event at Vivekananda Undergraduate College on June 12, 2025. In his inaugural speech, Rai expressed gratitude to VVS for the trust placed in him and outlined his vision for the college, emphasizing academic excellence, innovation, and holistic student development.

The ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including Dr. Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka, President of Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha, and Dr. K.M. Krishna Bhat, Vice President. Other attendees included Satishrao (Assistant Executive Officer), Ravindra P (College Chairman), Gopalakrishna Bhat (Convener), Sachin Shenoy and Vatsala Ragni (Treasurers), and distinguished academics Dr. K.N. Subramanya, Dr. Muralikrishna Rai, Dr. Krishna Prasanna, and Ramesh Prabhu, President of Hostels. Principals, headmasters, and lecturers from various VVS institutions also joined to mark the occasion.
