Bengaluru, September 4, 2026: Karnataka Government has selected 31 teachers for the State-Level Best Teacher Awards for the 2026–27 academic year, including 20 primary school teachers and 11 secondary school teachers.
List includes teachers and head teachers from government and other recognised schools across Karnataka. The government has also approved a cash award of ₹25,000 each, with a total expenditure of ₹7.75 lakh, for the selected awardees.
Awards will be presented as part of the State-Level Teachers' Day celebration on September 5, 2026. Women teachers among the awardees will receive the award in the name of Savitribai Phule, described in the order as Akshara Mathe.
Dakshina Kannada Gets Two Awardees
Dakshina Kannada district has two representatives among the state-level awardees. Roshan Alexander Pinto, a Grade-II Assistant Teacher at Carmel High School, Modankap, Bantwal taluk, has been selected under the secondary school category.
Ibrahim M., a Kannada lecturer at Government PU College, Uppinangady, was separately selected for the State-Level Best Lecturer Award in another government order issued on September 4.
20 Primary School Teachers Selected
Primary school category includes teachers from Bengaluru Rural, Chikkodi, Udupi, Raichur, Vijayapura, Uttara Kannada, Chikkaballapur, Belagavi, Chamarajanagar, Kalaburagi, Bengaluru, Bagalkot, Sirsi, Madhugiri, Shivamogga, Bengaluru North, Davanagere, Tumakuru, Ballari and Koppal districts.
Among those selected are C. Uma from Devanahalli, Ashoka from Kundapura, Usha V. Nayak from Honnavar, Prabhavati Balappa Halenavar, Head Teacher from Belagavi Rural, and Krishnamurthy K.S. from Bengaluru North.

Secondary school awardees include teachers and head teachers from Sirsi, Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere and Vijayapura.
List includes Biradar Siddappa Veerabhadrappa, Shyenakumari M., Kuberanayak B., Neelakantha Gavankar, V. Venkatesh, Mamatha R. Nayak, Roshan Alexander Pinto, Jayashila, Madhayi T., Jayappa K.T. and Anand Madev Jhunde, who has been selected in the special teacher category.
Government has authorised a cash award of ₹25,000 for each of the 31 awardees, amounting to ₹7.75 lakh in total. Expenditure will be met from the State Teachers' Welfare Fund and Students' Welfare Fund, Bengaluru, in accordance with the government's earlier order dated September 12, 2022.

Belagavi Division Gets Two 'Best School' Awards
In a separate order issued on September 4, the Karnataka Government also approved the Govinda Gowda H.G. Best School Award for two schools in the Belagavi division for 2026–27. Award is named after Malnad Gandhi Sri Govinda Gowda H.G., former Education Minister.
