Monday, June 23, 2025
Puttur, June 23, 2025: The National Lok Adalat, scheduled for July 12, 2025, across six courts in Puttur, will provide residents an opportunity to resolve legal disputes through mutual compromise, saving both time and money. The initiative, organized under the guidance of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority and the District Legal Services Authority, aims to deliver swift justice and mental peace to litigants.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Senior Civil Judge Prakruthi Kalyan Pur emphasized the benefits of settling cases through compromise. “Resolving disputes in Lok Adalat not only saves resources but also fosters harmonious relationships. It ensures quick justice and mental tranquility,” she said. Around 1,000 pending cases and approximately 3,000 cheque bounce cases from financial institutions are expected to be addressed during the event.
The Lok Adalat will also handle pre-litigation cases (PLCs), offering zero-fee dispute resolution. Sectors like banking and the Regional Transport Office (RTO) have significant opportunities to register such cases. “If cases are settled through compromise in the Lok Adalat, court fees will be fully refunded,” Pur added, urging public participation for the initiative’s success.
To raise awareness, authorities will use audio announcements on garbage disposal vehicles operated by gram panchayats and municipal councils. The event will see coordination from judicial officers, including Senior Civil Judge Shivanna H.R., Yogendra Shetty, and Puttur Bar Association President J. Jagannath Rai, who were present at the press meet.
