\Bengaluru, July 3, 2025: The Karnataka Govt has announced the opening of applications for the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for the 2025-26 academic year, aimed at supporting students from minority communities studying in Classes 1 to 8. Eligible students from Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Zoroastrian (Parsi) communities can apply through the State Scholarship Portal (SSP) before the deadline of September 30, 2025.

The initiative, facilitated by the Directorate of Minorities, seeks to provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged students, reducing dropout rates and promoting education among minority communities. The scholarship covers expenses such as tuition fees, books, and other educational costs, with funds disbursed directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

How to Apply Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for the 2025-26

Applications must be submitted online through the SSP portal at ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/ssppre/. Applicants are required to have an Aadhaar number or Aadhaar Enrollment ID, a National Scholarship Portal (NSP) ID, and a valid income certificate. The process involves registering on the SSP portal, filling out the application form, and uploading necessary documents, including income and caste certificates issued by the Tahsildar. Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicants must be residents of Karnataka.
  • They must belong to a minority community (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, or Parsi).
  • The annual family income should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh.
  • Students must be enrolled in Classes 1 to 8 in a recognized school.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in the previous examination is required (with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST students in certain cases).
