Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai flags off a non-stop KSRTC express bus at Puttur bus stand, launching the Puttur-Mangaluru service on July 14, 2025.

Puttur, July 15, 2025: MLA Ashok Kumar Rai, gave a thumbs up to better commuting by launching a snazzy new non-stop express bus service from Puttur to Mangaluru's State Bank terminal, all thanks to KSRTC. It's like a dream come true for everyone in Puttur, especially students and folks with 9 to 5 jobs. This is the first time something like this is happening here, and it is all about giving the town's peeps a quicker way to get to the big city.

The party went down at the Puttur KSRTC bus stand, where the bus service got its grand start with a green flag and roses for the passengers. Rai talked to everyone and said this was something people had been asking for, for ages. This bus ride is like the express lane to work or school, no pit stops, just zoom-zoom. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour, which is pretty sweet if you're in a rush.

And guess what? Under some cool state thing called the Shakti scheme, women can ride these buses for free! MLA Ashok Rai said over 500 crore ladies across Karnataka have already taken advantage of this sweet deal. Plus, this service is going to be running like a well-oiled machine with 60-70 trips every single day from 8 am to 9 pm. This is huge for Puttur is booming industry and business scene.

But wait, there is more! They also had a little shindig for the Shakti scheme is 500 crore beneficiary milestone. The big cheese of KSRTC's Puttur division, Amalingaiah B. Hosapoojary, said they have already used up 6.5 lakh tickets here in Puttur. Now, that is some popular stuff.

And if you thought that was all, oh no, there's even talk about starting up some city buses in Puttur and adding five more comfy sleeper coaches for the night owls traveling from Mangaluru to Bengaluru, with a pit stop in Vitla-Puttur. How cool is that?

Some really safe drivers got a pat on the back too. Udayakumar, Raju Gajakosh, Giridhar, Naveenchandra, Amoghasiddha, and Balakrishna have been doing a fantastic job without any accidents, so Rai gave them some love.

Bunch of important folks were there to cheer them on, like Bharat Mundodi, Umanath Shetty, Krishnaprasad Alva, and KSRTC's own Divisional Traffic Manager, Jaishanth. Subrahmanya Prakash, the KSRTC unit manager, kicked off the welcome speech, and Santosh Bhandari wrapped it up with a vote of thanks.

This whole deal is set to change the way people get around here. No more wasting time in traffic jams or waiting for ages at bus stops. Just hop on and you're good to go. It's like giving a big thumbs up to convenience!
