Ambika Vidyalaya CBSE, Puttur, Sanskritotsav and Rakshabandhan celebration

Puttur, August 11, 2025: Ambika Vidyalaya CBSE, under the aegis of Nattoja Foundation Trust, hosted a vibrant celebration of Sanskritotsav and Rakshabandhan at its Bappalige campus in Puttur, Karnataka, on Saturday. The event, marked by cultural reverence and enthusiasm, highlighted the significance of Sanskrit as the mother of all languages and the timeless tradition of Rakshabandhan, fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride among students.

Sanskrit: The Soul of Indian Languages

Speaking as the chief guest, Narayan Vailar, a Sanskrit lecturer at Ambika Pre-University College, emphasized the profound role of Sanskrit in Indian culture. “Sanskrit is the root of all languages, often called the mother tongue. It is a language of joy, easily understood, and brings happiness to all who engage with it,” he said. Vailar noted that despite its decline during the Macaulay education system, Sanskrit’s rich legacy of spanning 18 Puranas, four Vedas, and numerous exemplary literary works, that remains unparalleled. “Sanskrit is like our soul, giving a unique identity to every Indian language,” he added.

Reviving Cultural Roots

Subramanya Nattoja, chairman of Ambika Group of Educational Institutions, presided over the event and expressed concern over the fading prominence of Sanskrit. “It is unfortunate that we are forgetting a language as sacred as a mother. Sanskrit must be revived, and its global reach depends on the younger generation,” he urged. The event featured competitions, with winners receiving certificates, and concluded with students lighting aarati and tying Rakhis, symbolizing sibling bonds and protection.

The program was graced by school principal Malathi D. Bhat and vice-principal Sujani Borkar. Class 10 student Sudhanva delivered an introduction on Sanskrit, while Karnashruth Prabhu welcomed the gathering, and Lasya Santosh offered a vote of thanks. Priyanshu Rao introduced the guests, and Mandirakaje and Sushunma compered the event, ensuring a seamless celebration of culture and tradition.
