Puttur, August 11, 2025: In a heartwarming reunion, 34 alumni of the 1991 BSc batch of St Philomena College, Puttur, gathered on Sunday to relive their college days, marking 34 years since their graduation. The event, held at the college campus, saw former classmates reconnect, share life experiences, and reminisce about their academic journey from 1988 to 1991.
The group, originally comprising 54 students, came together through a WhatsApp group that facilitated their reconnection. Of the 51 surviving members, 34 attended the event, engaging in lively discussions about their college memories and life’s ups and downs. The college administration, led by Principal Dr Antony Prakash Montero, provided a warm and supportive environment for the gathering.

A Legacy of Responsible Citizens

Speaking at the event, Dr Antony Prakash Montero emphasized the college’s role in shaping responsible citizens, calling it the institution’s greatest asset. “St Philomena College fosters equality across all religions, treating every student as our own without discrimination,” he said. A former student himself, Dr Montero shared his pride in serving as principal, having spent 18 years in the institution’s ecosystem. He urged alumni to contribute to the college’s growth and maintain their connection with their alma mater.

Alumni Urged to Give Back

The event also saw the felicitation of Dr Montero, Dr Moleyoor, and Public Relations Officer Bharati S Rai by the alumni, acknowledging their contributions.

Vice Principal Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyoor echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the significance of such reunions in strengthening the institution. “This college has given us everything. Now, we must think about what we can give back to help it grow further,” he said, encouraging alumni to stay engaged with the college’s progress. The event also saw the felicitation of Dr Montero, Dr Moleyoor, and Public Relations Officer Bharati S Rai by the alumni, acknowledging their contributions.

The reunion was marked by nostalgia, with alumni like Dr Girish Bhat Ajakkala delivering the welcome address, Vishnu Bhat giving the vote of thanks, and Dr Krishna Prabha anchoring the event. Faculty member Tejaswi Bhat and alumni including Shivanath Rai, Badruddin Mani, and Lakshmi Narayana Kadambalithaya played key roles in organizing the gathering.
