Mangaluru, Aug 3, 2025: The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee, President K. Harish Kumar, convened its monthly gathering at the Congress Bhavan in Mallikatte. During the assembly, the committee expressed strong condemnation for the Pahalgam terrorist incident, which resulted in the tragic loss of 26 lives. The Congress directed its criticism towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the central government of a security failure and claiming that the PM had attempted to evade responsibility with misleading comments made within the Parliament.

Speaking to the party members present, Mr. Kumar highlighted Congress' storied commitment to national security and unity. He affirmed that the opposition party would not permit the BJP to besmirch its legacy through deceitful narratives. In a call to action, he encouraged the leadership and rank-and-file to refute such tactics effectively, emphasizing that Congress' historical contributions to the nation's well-being were beyond reproach.

Kadaba Election Strategy and Voter List Protest

The meeting, held to discuss the imminent Kadaba town panchayat elections scheduled for August 17, saw Congress leader Harish Kumar emphasizing the need for a serious and concerted effort to secure victory for the party's candidates. This victory, he stated, would serve to send a resounding message from the district. As part of the strategic preparations, Harish Kumar has instructed leaders to convene meetings with ex-zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat members, current elected gram panchayat representatives, and unsuccessful candidates in every assembly constituency by August 30. The purpose of these gatherings is to meticulously plan and coordinate strategies for the upcoming polls.

Moreover, the committee has decided to actively participate in a protest organized by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), set to take place in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru on August 5. This protest is in response to the alleged irregularities in the ongoing voter list revisions. Harish Kumar has called upon district leaders and workers to stand in solidarity and participate in the demonstration, thereby voicing the party's strong condemnation of what it perceives as a deliberate attempt to manipulate the electoral rolls.

Leaders Unite for Party Goals

The meeting was graced by emblematic Congress leaders such as Shakuntala Shetty, Padmaraj Poojari, M S Mohammad, Sadashiv Ullal, K K Shahul Hameed, K Appi, Usha Anchan, Jokim D’Souza, Dinesh Muluru, Ibrahim Nawaz, Shalet Pinto, and Suhan Alva. Shashidhar Hegde extended a warm welcome to all attendees. This assembly underscores Congress's determination to bolster its presence in Dakshina Kannada, particularly in the run-up to local polls, while simultaneously addressing critical national matters such as security and upholding electoral integrity.
