Puttur, August 6, 2025: St Philomena Pre-University College, Puttur, played host to an exhilarating showcase of creativity and talent as it held the district-wide 'Philo Prabha 2025' on Wednesday. The event, aimed at high school students, took place at the college's Silver Jubilee Auditorium and drew an impressive turnout of over 900 participants from 36 high schools scattered throughout Dakshina Kannada district. 

The Sullia Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Chandrashekar Peralu, kicked off the festivities with an inspiring speech emphasizing the need for students to seize opportunities and develop their skills in the face of today's competitive academic landscape. He highlighted the storied legacy of St Philomena institutions, which have historically served as stepping stones for students to achieve national and international acclaim.

Peralu motivated the young attendees to view the Philo Prabha 2025 as a prime opportunity to exhibit their prowess. "This platform is not just about winning awards; it's about embracing a culture of skill-based learning through persistent practice," he exclaimed, encouraging the students to make the most of their time and abilities. The buzzing atmosphere was a testament to the excitement and anticipation of the students, all eager to showcase their talents in various fields. Philo Prabha 2025- A Platform for Holistic Development

Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas, the esteemed director of the Mayide Deus Education Institutions, recently took the helm at an inspiring event. His institution is renowned for its unwavering dedication to delivering superior educational experiences, which extend far beyond the confines of traditional classroom learning. This commitment to holistic development is the cornerstone upon which the college's reputation for nurturing well-rounded individuals is built.

During the event, Fr. Mascarenhas emphasized the profound significance of Philo Prabha, a distinctive stage that empowers students to embark on a journey of self-discovery and talent exploration. "This is a special opportunity that allows students to uncover and develop their hidden abilities," he expressed to the eager participants. The day was a kaleidoscope of activities, comprising 14 varied competitions that catered to a wide array of interests and skills. The lineup included intellectually stimulating challenges such as quizzes and English elocution, creative endeavors like pencil sketching and clay modeling, and scientific prowess through science model-making. Additionally, there were patriotic singing performances, collage-making, innovative waste-to-wealth crafts, face painting, and fancy dress contests that brought color and vibrancy to the occasion. The cultural richness was further enhanced by Kannada recitation and the energetic rhythms of folk dance.

The atmosphere was electric as students from different disciplines and backgrounds showcased their prowess, leaving the audience spellbound. This event served as a testament to the institution's belief in the power of creative expression and its unwavering support for the all-around development of its students. The event was attended by esteemed individuals such as Gerald D’Costa, who holds the position of vice-president within the Church Administrative Committee, and Divya Anil Rai, serving as the vice-president of the Parent-Teacher Association. The presence of these figures, along with teachers, students, PTA members, and college staff, contributed to the celebratory ambiance. The festivities began with a spiritual invocation performed by the talented college performing arts ensemble, setting the stage for Principal Rev. Fr. Ashok Rayan Crasta to extend a warm welcome to all attendees. 

Suma P.R., the director of Philo Prabha 2025, later expressed her gratitude with a well-crafted vote of thanks. Throughout the event, the poised and skilled lecturer, Savita Montero, elegantly maintained the flow of the program as the master of ceremonies. This occasion not only showcased the immense potential of the youth from Dakshina Kannada, but also reinforced St. Philomena College’s long-standing reputation as a fertile breeding ground for future leaders and successes.
