Devotees offer prayers during the invitation release ceremony for Sri Ganeshotsav 2025 at Balamuri Vidyaganapati Temple, Puttur.

Puttur, August 6, 2025: Sri Balamuri Vidyaganapati Temple, nestled in the heart of Puttur Karmala, Bannur, Bharatinagar, is all set to host traditional Sri Ganeshotsav festival come August 27, 2025. This revered place of worship is buzzing with excitement as the temple committee unveiled the invitation during a special puja on Tuesday evening, signaling the official start of the countdown to the grand celebration. 

The auspicious invitation was released in a gathering that saw the convergence of notable figures from the community. Bonanthaya Shivashankar Bhat, the esteemed Director of Sri Akhila Havyaka Mahasabha, was present to bless the occasion, lending his esteemed presence to the commencement of the preparations. The local dignitaries from the Puttur unit of Havyaka Mahasabha, including Venugopal Bhat, Venkatakrishna Bhat, Rajagopal Bhat, and Chandrashekar Bhat, were also in attendance, their participation adding to the festive aura.

Sri Ganeshotsav, a much-beloved festival dedicated to the elephant-headed deity Lord Ganesha, is eagerly awaited by devotees and well-wishers alike. This year's celebration promises to be grander than ever before, with an air of devotion and festivity that is sure to envelop the entire town.

The Sri Ganeshotsav festivities will commence at 8:00 AM on August 27 with a Ganapati Havana, followed by the offering of a silver crown to Lord Ganesha at 9:15 AM, crafted with the support of devotees. The day is jam-packed with soulful ceremonies that include the recital of the sacred Atharvashirsha at 11:00 AM, which is expected to fill the air with the sweet scent of spirituality and the melodious rhythms of the Vedic hymns. As the sun reaches its zenith, the faithful will gather for a grand Mahamangalarati, a high point of the festival, at noon to shower their prayers upon the deity. 

As the day gently transitions into evening, devotees can look forward to the melodious symphony of bhajans at 4:00 PM, which are sure to resonate within the hearts of all those present, followed by the mesmerizing Kumkumarchane ritual, where Lord Ganesha's idol is adorned with a vermilion-filled pattern, symbolizing the divine feminine energy. The celebrations will culminate in the vibrant and colorful Rangapooja at 7:30 PM, a visual treat that signifies the playful and vibrant nature of the deity.

The Sri Vidyaganapati Seva Samiti from Bannur, Puttur, has extended a warm invitation to one and all to come and be a part of these sanctified rituals. They have also made it known that those wishing to offer their contributions to the divine festivities can do so by participating in the Seva programs. A contribution of ₹500 will grant you the opportunity to be part of the grand Rangapooja, while ₹250 allows you to take part in the morning's pious Ganapati Havana.

In addition to Ganeshotsav, the temple hosts regular rituals, including Ganapati Havan and Rangapooja on every Sankashti day, Satyanarayana Puja with Annasantarpane on full moon days, Kumkumarchane by women on the fourth Tuesday of each month, Rudra Parayana during Pradosha on Trayodashi days, and special Kalashabhisheka and Appa Seva every Tuesday. The temple committee has called for devotees to actively participate in these events to earn divine blessings.
