St. Philomena College Launches Commerce Association with CA Orientation

The Commerce Association’s inauguration, led by Dr Vijay Kumar M and Mrs Spearl Fiona Pereira, set an enthusiastic tone for student-led initiatives in 2025-26.

Puttur, August 13, 2025: The Department of Commerce at St. Philomena College, Puttur, kicked off the academic year 2025-26 with the grand inauguration of the Commerce Association, coupled with an insightful orientation session on Chartered Accountancy (CA). The event, held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in the college premises, aimed to inspire and guide commerce students toward promising career paths.
The ceremony was graced by CA Jaganath Kamath, a distinguished Chartered Accountant renowned for his expertise in finance and taxation. As the chief guest, CA Kamath formally inaugurated the Commerce Association and delivered an engaging address. He emphasized the increasing significance of commerce in today’s dynamic economic landscape and urged students to explore Chartered Accountancy as a challenging yet rewarding career. During the CA orientation session, he shared practical insights into the CA course structure, effective preparation strategies, and the vast career opportunities awaiting aspiring chartered accountants.
Dr Vijay Kumar M, Vice-Principal of St. Philomena College, presided over the event. In his presidential address, he lauded the Department of Commerce for organizing such a impactful event and encouraged students to actively participate in the association’s activities while making informed decisions about their professional futures.
Mrs Spearl Fiona Pereira, Convenor of the Commerce Association, warmly welcomed the gathering and outlined the association’s objectives for the year. The newly elected office bearers of the Commerce Association were introduced and felicitated, marking their commitment to driving the association’s initiatives. The event commenced with a prayer song, followed by an introduction of the chief guest by student Ahad. Roshan Menezes proposed the vote of thanks, concluding the programme on a high note.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of commerce students and faculty members, setting a promising tone for the department’s academic calendar.
