Mangaluru, July 25: The Karnataka Government has appointed Rahul Ratnam Pandey, IAS, as the new Commissioner of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), bringing in a young officer with experience in public administration, healthcare management and local governance.
A 2018-batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre, Rahul Ratnam Pandey has been serving as the Managing Director of the Karnataka State Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (KSMSCL) in Bengaluru. The transfer was announced in a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) on July 24. He replaces Ravichandra Nayak, KAS, who has been transferred.
Pandey has held a range of administrative responsibilities during his career, including postings as Chief Executive Officer of Koppal Zilla Panchayat, Executive Director of the Centre for Smart Governance, and in district-level administrative assignments. His experience spans rural development, public service delivery and government administration.
He holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree and a Master's degree in Public Administration. Before joining the IAS, he had qualified for the Indian Railways Accounts Service (IRAS) through the Civil Services Examination. As Commissioner, Rahul Ratnam Pandey will head the administration of the Mangaluru City Corporation, overseeing civic services such as sanitation, drinking water supply, road maintenance, solid waste management, public health and implementation of urban development projects.
His appointment comes at a time when Mangaluru is witnessing rapid urban growth, with several infrastructure and civic improvement projects underway. Residents will be looking to the new Commissioner to ensure efficient delivery of civic services and timely execution of development works. The appointment takes effect immediately, according to the government notification.
