Mangaluru/ Puttur, August 8, 2026: Registration deadline for the redesigned Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme for the 2026–27 Kharif and Rabi seasons has been extended in Dakshina Kannada district.
Arecanut and black pepper have been notified under the scheme for the district. Farmers who have availed crop loans can register through the bank from which they obtained the loan, while farmers without crop loans can register through the bank where they maintain their savings account.
Registration is also available through Common Service Centres (CSCs) and Grama One centres.
Premium for Farmers
Under the scheme, the premium payable by farmers per hectare is:
- Arecanut: ₹6,400
- Black pepper: ₹2,350
Tata AIG has been selected as the insurance company for implementing the scheme in Dakshina Kannada district for the current agricultural year.
The last date for registration is August 17. Farmers who have not yet enrolled are advised to complete the registration at the earliest and avail themselves of the benefits of the crop insurance scheme.
