Bengaluru, 30 August 2026: Karnataka Government has decided to undertake a re-verification drive of beneficiaries under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, making biometric and facial authentication mandatory to ensure that the monthly assistance reaches only eligible beneficiaries.
Under the scheme, the woman head of an eligible household receives ₹2,000 per month. The re-verification exercise will cover all beneficiaries and is aimed at ensuring that the benefits reach the intended recipients.
Door-to-Door Verification From August 30
According to the government order, the verification process will begin on August 30 and is to be completed within one month. Guarantee Committee members and designated field enumerators will be required to visit beneficiaries' homes as part of the exercise. The government has directed that no household visit should be skipped.
The verification will be carried out through a mobile application developed by the Directorate of Electronic Citizen Service Delivery (EDCS).
What Will Be Verified?
During the house-to-house exercise, enumerators will collect and verify details including Beneficiary's photograph, Photograph of the beneficiary's house, GPS location mapping, Facial authentication, Voter ID details and Other information required under the verification format.
Facial authentication and other details are to be recorded through the designated mobile application.
Who Will Conduct the Survey?
Government has outlined different arrangements for urban and rural areas. In urban areas, personnel such as revenue inspectors, bill collectors and Anganwadi workers may be deployed as enumerators as per the prescribed procedure. In rural areas, Gram Panchayat secretaries and staff will be involved in the exercise.
District Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers of Zilla Panchayats have been directed to make clear ward-wise and village-wise deployment and issue written orders to the enumerators.
Training for Enumerators
Department of Women and Child Development will prepare model formats and provide training to field enumerators through master trainers before the verification exercise. Government has also directed district and taluk-level Guarantee Committees and local-level committees to complete the verification process within the prescribed timeframe.
Gruha Lakshmi Completes Three Years
Re-verification drive comes as the Gruha Lakshmi scheme completes three years on August 30. Scheme, one of the Karnataka government's five guarantee programmes, provides ₹2,000 every month to the woman head of an eligible household.
According to the information provided in the government announcement, around 1.20 crore beneficiaries have received more than ₹76,500 crore under the scheme so far.
Pink Lights to Mark Three Years
To mark the third anniversary, several prominent government and heritage buildings will be illuminated in pink light from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Buildings listed include Vidhana Soudha, Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Mysuru Palace, Chitradurga Fort, Hampi's Stone Chariot, the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner's Office building in Mangaluru and Kittur Channamma Circle in Belagavi. Pink illumination has been planned as a symbolic celebration of women's empowerment and the three-year milestone of the scheme.
