Karnataka Cabinet Portfolio Allocation: Who Gets Which Department

Bengaluru, 12 August 2026: The confusion over the allocation of portfolios to Karnataka's newly inducted ministers has finally come to an end.

Following the second phase of the Karnataka Cabinet expansion, portfolios have been allocated to the ministers who took oath on August 3. The final list has received the Governor's approval and the government has issued the official notification.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will handle Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Intelligence, Information, Law, Justice and Human Rights, Parliamentary Affairs and Legislation, Agriculture Marketing, Town and Country Planning, and other unallocated portfolios.

Several important changes have been made in the final allocation.

Ramalinga Reddy and Muniyappa Get New Portfolios

Senior minister Ramalinga Reddy has been given the Forest, Ecology and Environment portfolio. He was earlier unhappy with the allocation of the Water Resources portfolio.

K.H. Muniyappa has been given the Social Welfare portfolio. He was earlier unhappy with being given the Food and Civil Supplies department.

The changes followed discussions among ministers, senior Congress leaders and the Chief Minister over the allocation of key departments.
