Puttur Gears Up for Grand Tiranga Yatra on August 7
Puttur, August 1: Puttur is preparing for a grand Tiranga Yatra on August 7, with organisers calling on citizens to come together in a show of patriotism and national unity. The event is expected to bring together students, youth, social organisations and members of the public. Organisers said the yatra aims to strengthen the spirit of nationalism, especially among young people.
B.Y. Vijayendra to Join the March
The programme has gained political attention as Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra is expected to participate in the yatra. His visit is likely to draw a large number of party workers and supporters from across the region.
Route and Timing
The Tiranga Yatra is scheduled to begin at 3.30 pm on August 7. According to the organisers, the procession will start near the Mahathobara Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple and conclude at Kille Maidan in Puttur. Participants will carry the National Flag and take part in the march as a tribute to the country's unity and democratic values.

Ahead of the event, BJP leaders held preparatory meetings in Puttur to review arrangements and coordinate responsibilities. At a meeting held at the BJP office, MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur discussed the programme with party leaders and volunteers. Former MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, BJP district office-bearers, representatives of social organisations, school and college heads, youth leaders and party workers also attended.
Another meeting was later held at Puttur Sahakara Jyothi Sabhangana. Speaking on the occasion, BJP District President Satish Kumpala urged booth-level workers to reach out to the public and ensure wide participation in the event.
Call for Public Participation
Organisers have appealed to people from all sections of society to join the Tiranga Yatra. They said the event is not only a march but also an opportunity to express respect for the National Flag and reaffirm commitment to the country's unity.
While the programme is being organised by the BJP, the organisers have invited students, youth groups, educational institutions, voluntary organisations and the general public to take part. They hope the event will become a community celebration of patriotism and one of the largest Tiranga Yatras held in the Puttur Assembly constituency.
