Bengaluru: Senior IPS officer B. Dayananda (KN:1994) has been promoted to the grade of Director General of Police (DGP) with retrospective effect from September 12, 2025, the Karnataka government said in a notification issued on September 7, 2026.
Dayananda, currently Additional Director General of Police, Training, Bengaluru, has been posted with immediate effect as DGP, Internal Security Division (ISD) in the vacant post.
Promotion carries the Level-16 pay scale under the IPS (Pay) Rules, 2016. Government has also declared the post of DGP, Internal Security Division equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of DGP, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under Rule 12 of the IPS (Pay) Rules, 2016.
Order was issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Services-4) in the name of the Governor of Karnataka.
