Kumbra Shri Rama Bhajana Mandir’s 45th Ganeshotsava Concludes

Puttur, 19 September 2026: Three-day 45th annual public Ganeshotsava organised by the Shri Rama Bhajana Mandir at Ramagiri, Kumbra, concluded on September 16 with religious, cultural and community programmes.

Festival was held from September 14 to 16. Various Vedic rituals, Maha Pooja and Rangapooja were conducted under the guidance of temple priest Prakash Nakshatritthaya. The Ganesh idol immersion ceremony was held on September 16.  More than 5,000 devotees from Kumbra and neighbouring areas were served Annadanam during the festival.

Ganapathi Homa was conducted every morning, followed by Maha Pooja, Prasada distribution and Annasantarpane in the afternoon and evening. Religious gatherings were also organised as part of the celebrations.

Various competitions, including religious quizzes for children, women and the general public, as well as a Ramayana costume competition, were held during the festival.

Cultural Programmes Attract Crowds

A series of cultural programmes were organised as part of the celebrations. The programmes included the Tulu drama “Ponnu Pokkade” presented by Vishwabharati Kalavidaru, Kumbra, a classical music programme, performances by Brindavana Natyalaya and the traditional Yakshagana Bayalata “Sahadeva Digvijaya.”

On the day of the procession, a Singari Mela performance accompanied by violin music was presented near Kumbra Katte. Thousands of people from Kumbra and surrounding areas attended the cultural programmes.

Grand Ganesh Procession

An elaborate Ganesh procession was held on September 16. Following the Maha Pooja and other Vedic rituals in the evening, the procession began from the temple premises. At Kumbra Ashwatha Katte, the procession joined the Ganesh idol worshipped by the Thingaladi Shri Devata Committee. Immersion of both Ganesh idols was later carried out at the sacred river at Shekhamale. Thousands of devotees participated in the procession and took a holy dip during the immersion ceremony.

Brijesh Chowta, Ashok Rai Among Visitors

MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MLA Ashok Kumar Rai, former MLAs Sanjeeva Matandoor and Shakuntala T. Shetty, BJP district president Satish Kumpala, BJP rural mandal president Dayananda Shetty Ujiremaru, general secretary Lokesh Chakote, Sunil Daddu, former president Saja Radhakrishna Alva, rural mandal vice-president Hariprasad Yadav, Block Congress president Krishna Prasad Alva, Krishna Kumar Rai Kedambadiguttu, entrepreneurs Shivaprasad Rai Kinar and Muralikrishna Hasanthadka, among others, visited the Ganeshotsava.

Dignitaries offered prayers and received Prasada from the temple management. 45th public Ganeshotsava was celebrated on a grand scale with a combination of Vedic rituals, religious programmes and cultural events. Devotees from Kumbra and neighbouring areas, along with dignitaries from the religious, political and social sectors, participated in the celebrations.
