Snapdragon processor targets everyday performance
POCO X8 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 platform, with a peak clock speed of up to 2.4GHz. Phone is offered with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage in the global specification, although memory and storage configurations can vary by market.
It runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. POCO has also promised four OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the X8 series in India, according to the launch specifications reported by Gadgets 360. This makes the phone less about chasing flagship-level specifications and more about providing a balanced package for everyday use, entertainment and gaming.
50MP camera but don't expect a camera-phone revolution
Rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a 2MP depth camera. The OIS support is useful for reducing camera shake and can help with photography in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. The front camera is 16MP.

It also upgrades the processor to Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, adds an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP selfie camera. In comparison, the standard X8 offers a 9,000mAh battery, 67W charging, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a 50MP + 2MP rear camera system and a 16MP front camera.
That makes the choice relatively clear. POCO X8 is aimed at buyers looking for a more affordable all-round package. The X8 Power is for those willing to spend more for an even bigger battery, faster charging and stronger hardware.
POCO X8 arrives at a time when smartphone manufacturers are increasingly turning to silicon-carbon battery technology to increase capacity without making phones dramatically thicker. For consumers, that could mean a shift in what defines a good smartphone.
Instead of asking only about megapixels or processor benchmarks, buyers may increasingly ask: Can this phone comfortably last through my day and perhaps much longer?
