Mumbai, 22 October, 2026 : Jio Platforms Limited’s ₹30,213-crore initial public offering (IPO) attracted strong investor interest on its opening day, with the issue subscribed 3.16 times by the end of bidding on Wednesday, according to subscription data available on October 21.

IPO, which opened on October 21 and closes on October 23, is the largest public issue in India to date. Demand was led by Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs), whose reserved portion was subscribed 9.42 times, according to the latest available subscription figures.

Strong institutional response comes after the company’s anchor investor book attracted bids worth around ₹2.5 lakh crore against an allocation of ₹8,110 crore, reflecting substantial demand from large domestic and international investors.

Institutional Demand Leads Subscription

QIB category recorded subscription of 9.42 times its reserved portion on Day 1. The Non-Institutional Investor (NII) category was subscribed approximately 1.68 times, while the employee and shareholder reservation categories recorded subscriptions of around 1.36 times and 1.45 times, respectively.

Retail participation remained more measured, with the retail portion subscribed approximately 0.73 times in the available end-of-day figures. The subscription pattern highlights the difference between strong institutional demand and participation by individual investors.

These figures may change as bidding continues through October 23.

Jio Platforms IPO: Issue Size and Price Band

IPO aims to raise approximately ₹30,213 crore through a fresh issue of 27 crore equity shares. The price band has been fixed at ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share. Issue is significant because it brings Jio Platforms, the digital and telecommunications business of Reliance Industries, to the public market. The company’s operations span telecom services, digital platforms and related technology businesses.

The funds raised through a fresh issue will go to the company rather than to existing shareholders selling their shares. Investors should refer to the offer documents for the stated use of proceeds and the associated risks.

What Should Investors Watch?

Strong subscription figures indicate demand for an IPO, but they do not guarantee listing gains or long-term returns. Investors should assess the company’s valuation, financial performance, business outlook and risk factors before applying. Final subscription figures, allotment details and listing performance will become clearer as the IPO process progresses.
