| Puttur Bids Farewell to Muliya Shyam Bhat; Havyaka Leaders Pay Tribute |
Puttur, 7 October 2026: Puttur bid a heartfelt farewell to veteran entrepreneur, philanthropist and social worker Muliya Shyama Bhat, proprietor of Muliya Gold and Diamonds, whose final journey was held in Puttur on October 6.
Shyama Bhat, who was 81, was known for his contribution to the jewellery business and for helping establish Puttur’s name in the jewellery trade across different parts of Karnataka. He was also respected for his social and philanthropic activities.
Final journey began from his residence, Shyamalochana at Panglayi, following traditional rituals and preparations held in the morning. Family members, relatives, business leaders, office-bearers of various organisations, friends and a large number of members of the public participated in the final journey and paid their last respects.
Havyaka community leaders offer tribute
Prominent members of the Havyaka community also paid their respects to the departed entrepreneur and offered condolences to his family. They consoled his son Keshava Bhat Muliya, who is involved in leading the family business, Krishna Narayana Muliya, daughter Dr Vidyasraswati, and other family members. The community leaders prayed for peace to the departed soul and recited the Rama Taraka Mantra as part of the tribute.
Those present included Shivashankar Bhat Bonanthaya, Vice-President of the Havyaka Mahamandala; Aravind Bhat Darbe, Mandal President; Venugopal Bhat Mambadi, Zonal President; office-bearer and BJP district secretary Vidyagowri; and Gurikkaras Krishna Bhat Jodukatte and Keshava Bhat.
Remembered for business and social contributions
Shyam Bhat’s long association with the jewellery industry and his contribution to society were recalled by those who paid their respects. The large number of people who participated in his final journey reflected the respect and affection he had earned among the business community, social organisations and the public in Puttur.
The bereaved family members received condolences from relatives, friends, community leaders, business associates and members of various organisations.
