New Delhi, June 12, 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Preliminary 2025 on June 11, 2025. Candidates who appeared for the exam on May 25, 2025, can now check their results on the official UPSC website. The list of successful candidates, qualified for the Civil Services (Main) Examination scheduled for August 22, 2025, is available in PDF format. 

Steps to Check UPSC Prelims Results 2025
  1. Visit the Official UPSC Website: Go to upsc.gov.in.
  2. Locate the Results Link: On the homepage, find the link under the "What’s New" section titled “Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2025 – Result” and click on it.
  3. View the PDF: The result PDF, containing the roll numbers of qualified candidates, will display on your screen.
  4. Search Your Roll Number: Use Ctrl + F (or Command + F on Mac) to search for your roll number in the PDF.
  5. Download and Save: Download the PDF for your records and save it for future reference.

Key Details About UPSC Prelims 2025
  • Vacancies: The UPSC has announced 979 vacancies for the Civil Services Examination 2025.
  • Negative Marking: The Prelims exam includes negative marking, with one-third of the marks deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Cut-Off Information: Marks, cut-off scores, and answer keys will be released on upsc.gov.in only after the entire examination process, including the Indian Forest Service Examination, concludes with the final results.
  • Previous Year Cut-Off (2024): For reference, the 2024 cut-off for the general category was 87.98, while OBC and EWS categories had cut-offs of 87.28 and 85.92, respectively.
  • Number of Qualified Candidates: Approximately 14,161 candidates have qualified for the Mains examination.
Next Steps for Qualified Candidates
  • Fill the Detailed Application Form (DAF): Candidates who have cleared the Prelims must fill out the DAF for the Mains stage, available on the UPSC website from June 16 to 25, 2025.
  • Prepare for Mains: The UPSC CSE Mains 2025, a descriptive exam, will begin on August 22, 2025, and span five days. Focus on essay writing, General Studies papers, and optional subjects.
