Puttur, Karnataka – June 9, 2025: In a heartwarming incident that reflects public trust in local leadership, Puttur MLA Ashok Rai swiftly resolved a land issue after receiving a petition from a resident of Kodimbady village. What stood out was not just the speedy response, but also the unusual way in which gratitude was expressed.

Every Monday, MLA Ashok Rai holds a public grievance session at his office, where people from nearby villages submit petitions — often along with an empty Chikki canister, a practice that has become a unique tradition at his office.

Recently, Chitra Rai, a resident of Shantinagar in Kodimbady, visited the MLA’s office to report a problem related to the 9/11 RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops) land documentation. To her surprise, the issue was resolved the very next day.

Delighted by the prompt action, Chitra returned to the MLA’s office — this time not just with Chikki canister, but also carrying homemade pickles as a token of appreciation. “I have never seen such a quick and responsive leader. MLA Ashok Rai solved my 9/11 issue almost immediately,” she told reporters. “This is my way of saying thank you.”

The gesture brought smiles all around, and the MLA expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful gift. “This kind of connection with the public is what makes service worthwhile,” he said.
