Puttur, August 17, 2025: The quaint town of Puttur came alive with divine fervor as the 27th edition of ‘Shri Krishna Loka’ was celebrated with grandeur at Parladka Shivapete’s Vivekananda Shishu Mandira, in collaboration with Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple. Organized by the Public Shri Krishna Janmashtami Committee, the event drew hundreds of devotees, blending tradition with vibrant cultural displays.
A Divine Procession and Cradle Ceremony
The festivities began with a soulful bhajan performance by students, setting a spiritual tone. A highlight was the cradle ceremony, where six-month-old baby Shreshtan was placed in a decorated cradle, symbolizing Lord Krishna. Mothers from the Matru Mandali offered aarti, fed butter to the child, and sang lullabies, swaying the cradle in a heartwarming ritual that evoked Krishna’s childhood. The event culminated in a grand Radhe-Krishna procession, flagged off by former MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor with a ceremonial coconut-breaking. BJP city unit president Shivakumar Kallimar handed over the Bhagavadhwaja, marking the start of the vibrant march. The procession, starting from the Shishu Mandira premises, wound through MT Road and the main thoroughfare, concluding at the Mahalingeshwara Temple’s chariot street.Cultural Program and Notable Addresses
The formal program was inaugurated by Panjigudde Ishwara Bhat, president of the Mahalingeshwara Temple Managing Committee. Dr. Vijaya Saraswati, Dean of Vivekananda College’s Postgraduate Studies Centre, delivered an insightful keynote address, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual significance of Janmashtami. Harinarayana Shirantadka, a teacher from Agalpadi SAPHS School, presided over the event. Key committee members, including honorary president Rajee Balaram Achar, vice-president Malini Kashyap, treasurer Brijesh Rai, joint secretary Amit, Shishu Mandira president Rajagopala Bhat, coordinator Akshaya Kumar B.S., and treasurer Chandraprabha Satish, graced the occasion. Mohan K., president of the Public Krishna Janmashtami Committee, welcomed the gathering, while general secretary Kiran Shankar Malya proposed the vote of thanks. The program was expertly compered by teachers Chandrashekara Sulyapadavu and Pratiksha.The 27th Shri Krishna Loka reaffirmed Puttur’s deep-rooted devotion to Lord Krishna, with over 1,200 children dressed as Radhe-Krishna expected to participate, adding to the festive charm. The event continues to be a cherished tradition, uniting the community in celebration.
