Bengaluru, July 27: The Kannada Book Authority has announced its 2025 Annual Awards, recognising outstanding contributions to Kannada literature, publishing and literary service.
Announcing the awards, Kannada Book Authority Chairman Dr Manasa said that, for the first time, the Authority has also introduced two endowment awards. These awards will be presented every year to two writers of Chutuku (short verse) literature.
For Dakshina Kannada readers, the highlight is the selection of Dr B. Srinivas Kakkilaya of Mangaluru, who has been chosen for the Dr Anupama Niranjana Medical and Science Literature Award.
2025 Award Winners
- Best Publication Award – Pallava Prakashana, Hosapete (₹1,00,000)
- Dr M.M. Kalaburgi Humanities Award – Dr Ramegowda (Ragou), Mysuru (₹75,000)
- Dr G.P. Rajaratnam Literary Service Award – Dr Sri Channaveera Shivacharya, Bidar (₹50,000)
- Dr Anupama Niranjana Medical and Science Literature Award – Dr B. Srinivas Kakkilaya, Mangaluru
- Chutuku Yogacharya Dr M.G.R. Aras Endowment Award – A.E. Veerabhadregowda Andale for Chutuku Mungaru Hanigalu (₹6,000)
- Dr Amba M.G.R. Aras Endowment Award – V. Seethalakshmi varma, Vittla Palace, for Bogaseyolagina Chutuku Sagara (₹6,000)
Dr Manasa said the date for the award presentation ceremony will be announced soon.
This year's awards also mark the beginning of the Kannada Book Authority's new initiative to honour writers who have contributed to the growth of Kannada Chutuku literature.
