Puttur, July 27: The Puttur Women's Police conducted awareness programmes for students and members of the public on child safety, cyber crime, drug abuse and road safety as part of their community policing initiatives.
Police personnel visited the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Pre-Matric Boys' Hostel at Kombettu, under the jurisdiction of the Puttur Women's Police Station, and interacted with students. The session covered topics including child protection, cyber crime, the harmful effects of drug addiction, traffic rules and the safe use of social media.
Students were also informed about important emergency helpline numbers, including 1098 (Child Helpline), 1930 (Cyber Fraud Helpline) and 112 (Emergency Response Support System).
In another programme, the Women's Police conducted an SC/ST grievance meeting at Brahmanagar. During the meeting, local residents discussed various issues affecting the community, and police officers offered guidance and suggestions.
The police also created awareness on maintaining law and order, following traffic rules, preventing misuse of social media, the Locked House Beat System, and the Mane Manege Police (Police at Your Doorstep) initiative aimed at strengthening community policing.
The programmes were organised to encourage greater public awareness and improve cooperation between the police and the community.
