Puttur, July 26: St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, has taken a major step towards strengthening international academic exposure for its students by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Reach, a leading overseas education consultancy.
The MoU was signed on Saturday at the Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of the college in the presence of Principal Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro. Representing Global Reach were Shan Peter Joseph, Head of the Mangaluru Centre, and Poornima M., Senior Student Counsellor.
The partnership is aimed at helping students explore higher education opportunities abroad through career guidance, international university admissions support, scholarships, and global academic engagement.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Dr. Monteiro said the college is committed not only to delivering quality education but also to preparing students for global academic and professional opportunities. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would create new pathways for students to pursue higher studies and careers internationally.
He encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities available through the partnership, including career guidance programmes, workshops, and international education initiatives that can broaden their academic outlook and improve employability.
Dr. Geetha Poornima K., Training and Placement Officer, welcomed the gathering, while Dr. Vinayachandra, Director of the Research and Development Cell, highlighted the importance of the collaboration in enhancing the institution's global engagement. Dr. Edwin S. D'Souza, IQAC Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks, and Abhishek Suvarna, Training and Placement Officer, compered the programme.
Faculty members, non-teaching staff, and final-year undergraduate students attended the event.
Orientation on Studying Abroad
Following the MoU signing, Global Reach conducted an orientation session for students, providing insights into international higher education opportunities.
The session covered admissions to leading universities abroad, scholarship opportunities, application and student visa procedures, career counselling, complimentary TOEFL and PTE coaching, psychometric career assessments, internship opportunities in India and overseas, international education fairs, and collaborations with globally reputed universities.
The speakers encouraged students to prepare themselves with the right skills, guidance, and awareness to succeed in the competitive global education and employment landscape.
