Puttur Medical College: MLA Seeks Early Funds

MLA Ashok Kumar Rai meets senior Karnataka government officials in Bengaluru seeking early release of funds for the Puttur Government Medical College project.

Puttur : Construction work for the proposed Government Medical College in Puttur has commenced, and efforts are underway to ensure the institution becomes operational in 2027. Seeking to expedite the project, Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai met senior officials in Bengaluru and appealed for the early release of government funds.

The MLA held separate meetings with Mohammed Mohsin, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Medical Education; Dr. Vishal R., Principal Secretary, Finance Department; and Shobha, Additional Secretary, Department of Medical Education.

During the discussions, Rai informed the officials that the first phase of construction has already begun at the designated site. He requested them to ensure the swift processing of pending files and the timely release of funds so that the project progresses without delays.

Earlier, on July 10, the MLA had also met Ritesh Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, urging him to place the Puttur Medical College proposal before the State Cabinet for approval at the earliest.

The proposed Government Medical College is considered a major healthcare and educational project for the region. Once completed, it is expected to significantly strengthen medical education and healthcare services in Puttur and the surrounding districts.
