Puttur, July 27: Sports help students become confident, disciplined and responsible citizens. Along with playing games, students should also develop love for the country, said Subrahmanya Nattoja, Chairman of Ambika Group of Educational Institutions.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the District-Level Badminton Tournament organised jointly by Ambika Group of Educational Institutions and Vidya Bharati Karnataka (Dakshina Kannada) at Sudana Sports Club, Samethadka, Puttur.
Subrahmanya Nattoja said students today have many opportunities beyond academics, and sports are one of the best ways to build teamwork and leadership. "While achieving success in sports, students should also respect India's culture and work towards making the nation proud," he said.
Former serviceman and retired Youth Services and Sports Officer Madhav B.K. inaugurated the tournament. He told students that winning and losing are both part of sports and encouraged them to take part with a positive attitude. He also asked students to respect elders, maintain discipline and continue participating in sports along with their studies for overall development.
Among those present were District Sharirik Pramukh Purushothama, Nellikatte PU College Principal Sathyajith Upadhyaya, Bappalige PU College Principal Ganesh Prasad D.S., Ambika CBSE School Principal Malathi D., and physical education teachers Santosh and Suchithra Shetty.
The tournament saw the participation of 37 teams—nine in the Under-14 category, 15 in Under-17 and 13 in Under-19.
