Puttur, 30 August 2026: Coastal Karnataka is likely to experience light and occasional rainfall until September 3, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Coastal districts are expected to see a mix of cloudy and sunny conditions, with brief spells of light rain at intervals. One or two moderate spells of rain are possible in Sullia, Puttur and Belthangady taluks.
Some normal rainfall is also likely around the Western Ghats and adjoining areas of the coastal taluks, according to the forecast.
IMD said the weak southwest monsoon, along with warm and humid conditions, is contributing to the prevailing weather pattern. A low-pressure area over the northern Bay of Bengal could also support occasional rainfall along the coast.
Rain is expected to continue intermittently on most days until September 3, though prolonged or widespread heavy rainfall is not indicated in the forecast. On Saturday, parts of Dakshina Kannada district received occasional light showers, while most of the day saw alternating sunshine and cloudy conditions.
