Gokarna, August 1: A disciplined lifestyle is the foundation of good health and spiritual growth, said Raghaveshwara Bharathi Mahaswamiji during the ongoing Annabrahma Chaturmasya at Gokarna.
Addressing devotees at Ashoke Moola Math, the Jagadguru said food, sleep and brahmacharya (self-discipline) are the three pillars of a healthy life. When these remain balanced, both the body and mind stay healthy. As a result, spiritual progress also becomes possible.
He said every person should respect food as a divine blessing. Human life begins with food and continues to depend on it throughout life. Therefore, eating healthy and balanced food is essential.
The seer also explained that food directly influences the mind. According to him, pure and balanced food develops a calm mind, while excessive spicy, sour or unhealthy food can disturb mental balance.
Avoid Mobile Phones While Eating
He advised people to eat peacefully and with gratitude. At the same time, he urged people to avoid watching television or using mobile phones during meals. According to him, eating while looking at a mobile phone distracts the mind. Consequently, people fail to enjoy food properly, and the positive effect of food on the body and mind is reduced.
Sleep on Time
Speaking about sleep, the Jagadguru said Ayurveda describes sleep as the force that nourishes life. Timely sleep refreshes the body and improves overall health. However, staying awake late at night and sleeping during the day can disturb the body's natural balance. In turn, it may affect digestion and overall well-being.
The seer said people should eat on time, sleep regularly and follow a disciplined lifestyle. These simple habits help maintain physical health, mental peace and spiritual growth.
Guru Bhiksha Offered
During the programme, trustees of Sri Kshetra Horanadu, Shri G. Bhimeshwara Joshi and his wife, offered Guru Bhiksha Seva and presented offerings for the Annabrahma Chaturmasya. Several religious rituals, including Aruna Namaskara, Aruna Prashna Parayana, Aruna Havana and Ayushkameshti, were also performed. Devotees and members of the Math attended the event.
